January 12th, 2018 | by

The NCFFI reports on some huge winter weight from venues in the North recently…

08 January:  A change of method and a good section saw Ulster Council, UCFF secretary John Taggart take the lead in the East Belfast Coarse Angling Club Winter League with his 25.400kg weight on the Lower Bann at Portglenone.

30 December: Overnight snow turned the River Bann off for the 22 festival anglers at Portglenone. But a great weight of 21.950kg on day one secured the McCoy Cup for winner Ron Jordan. Well done to all who braved the weathers to fish.

23 December: Now that’s the way to start Xmas! Super weights on the River Blackwater with the River sitting at a perfect level after running off this past week and temperatures being fairly mild.

Top 3 weights:

  • 1st. Michael Cormican 67lb 6oz
  • 2nd. Shaun Keenan 61lb 13oz
  • 3rd. Shane Haughian 33lb 8oz
Shaun Keenan 61lb 13oz
