Bright conditions and good bags of small fish at Inniscarra for match anglers

November 26th, 2014 | by

Some recent reports from various venues at Inniscarra…

Sensas 28 from France wins Sensas Challenge qualifier at Inniscarra!

Seven four man teams competed in the Irish Sensas Challenge on the Coachford Greenway this weekend, 22/23 November. The teams were competing for two places at the famous Sensas Challenge that takes place in France in October.

A colour co-ordinated approach to angling… must be on the Green Team

With bright winter sunshine it made the fishing a little difficult over the weekend but at the same time 12kg was the top weight on day one with a very respectable average of 6kg being caught. Day 2 was a little different as it was an early start!! A 7am draw after the first -2’ frost of the winter with fishing from 10 to 2pm made it a little harder to achieve the top weight of 9kg.

Team Sensas 28 came out top to win the challenge with 16pts to the runners-up Sensas Green’s 25.5pts. The two teams will now head to France in October 2015 to compete alongside some of Europes best anglers receiving 10 boxes of groundbait from Sensas Ireland to help them along their way.

The venue would probably not exist except for the efforts of Tommy Lawton

Inniscarra Lake TDL would like to thank Sensas Ireland for holding the event in Coachford and for Team Sensas 28 for travelling over from France to fish to compete. Congratulations to the winning teams and thank you to all those who took part

Waterford and District Coarse Angling Club

Bright sunshine made for pretty pictures but the fish were not so impressed with the conditions…

Waterford and District Coarse Angling Club’s final master angler match was fished Sunday, 23 November on the Graveyard Stretch in Inniscarra. The day itself was glorious with brilliant sunshine all during the match, which started at 10.30 and was fished till 3.30.

Most of the anglers choose to target the shoals of roach. The main methods on the day where either long pole on a short line or the whip at 5-7 meters. The roach obliged and greedily took maggots or caster baits all day. The fish were in the 2-6 oz bracket with the odd perch or skimmer of a larger stamp making an appearance also.

On the day Danny Murphy showed his class with a impressive 12.6kg bag, followed by Attila with 8.6kg and Liam Conway with 7.35 kg and Mick Browne with 6.8 kg.

Full results are

  1. Danny Murphy 12.6 kg
  2. Attila Pealdeak 8.6 Kg
  3. Liam Conway 7.25 kg
  4. Mick Browne 6.8kg
  5. Steve Howsen 5.9 Kg
  6. Dave Norbury 5.08Kg
  7. Martin Collins 1.08Kg
  8. Aidan Dunwoody .630 g
  9. Philip Dunwoody .544g

also a special word of thank you to Trevor Platt for pegging out the venue for us.
