Tough on the Erne but nets to 9.9kg weighed in

March 1st, 2018 | by

With just one round to go all eyes are on the ERNE Anglers Winter League and who will make the top 18 for the final which carries a prize fund of almost £2000…

Round nine of the Winter League took place on Sunday, on a freezing River Erne. Tony Green reports on the bitterly cold easterly wind, and crystal clear waters and a tough day on the cards for the 25 anglers that turned out. Inishmore Viaduct suffered in the deep freeze and the whole section blanked! However Carrybridge and Bellanaleck proved that the Erne can still provide a surprise or two…

Erne anglers
Lyndon Reid came out on top at Bellanaleck with an excellent 9.900kg. Just pipping Tony Kersley 9.400kg at Carrybridge. Third place went back to Bellanaleck where Simon Huthwaite had 7.340kg with Kenny Seddon fourth at Carrybridge with 5.580kg.
Everyone was catching small roach on the pole.

Gus Greaves continued his great winter league form with another section win at Derrycharra. Alan Scollan came out on top in a close section at Queen Elizabeth Road.

With one round remaining, the league’s 18 qualifying places for the final couldn’t be tighter…
