Big jump in salmon and trout numbers in Milltown rivers – Tuam Herald

THE WORK that has been done in the rivers around Milltown is paying off, with an increase of 400 per cent in the number of salmon and trout in the area.
The Clare River which runs through the village is a very important tributary of Lough Corrib, but it is in the smaller rivers that run into the Clare that the work is being done.
In 2010 a programme was started on the Dawros River which has reaped rich rewards. Milltown Angling Club reports that four times as many fish are being caught now as a few years ago……
