38 pike caught and released by Newbridge Anglers in Dubs Cup

Newbridge and District Pike Anglers had 14 members fish the Dubs Cup on Saturday. The river was very low and the weed was making it hard for anglers to catch. In total 38 pike were caught and released, including 2 low doubles.

Dave Murphy won the competition and caught the heaviest fish

The anglers were staying in the Bridge House in Athleague where everyone was looked after and the presentations were held. David Mc Bride from southside Angling for sponsored the blind pairs competition with some great prizes.

  • 1st Dave Murphy  29.07 lbb 5 fish (Heaviest Fish 12.13lb)
  • 2nd Tommy Winder 18.01 lb 6 fish 
  • 3rd Brendan Jervis 18.00  lb 3 fish

2nd heaviest fish was caught by Eugene McCabe 11.01 lb
