Joe McDermott takes first place in pike competition on the Shannon

SHANNON PIKE. I teamed up with some of the Midland Pike Anglers last Sunday for a trip on the Shannon. It was a cracking day and a beautiful trip along one of Irelands superb waterways. I teamed up with Kilkenny Angler Tommy Buggy and we boated 5 nice pike and just pipped for 4th place. The prizes were for your best 3 fish, and Joe McDermott boated 3 pike for 40lbs 9oz to take Top Rod. Barry Darby 2nd with 34 lbs 1 oz, and the Dalton lads of Ballymore 3rd with 26 lbs 12 oz, and Pat Healy 4th 25 lbs 10 oz. Joe McDermott had the best pike weighing 14lbs 15oz.
