A few big pike make the difference for Dutch anglers in Longford

April 28th, 2017 | by

Kevin Lyons reports on the catches from a group of Dutch anglers in Longford…

Richard van der Grijn, Jent van der Vies, Ad Besemer and Jan van Heukelum from Holland were here once again at Melview Fishing Lodge in Longford for their annual Pike fishing trip. Things started a bit slow for them but picked up as the week went on. Most of the pike caught were males and small for the time of year. They used both soft and hard lures which seemed to have the same results, but it was Jan that came out on top with four or five larger fish on the last two days fishing.

The spots they fished should have produced some good fish for them like the week before but it was not to be. Well that’s fishing, thanks guys and hope to see you again next year.

All fish returned unharmed.
