Big pike to 27lb landed at Milltown Lake Christmas Comp

Milltown Lake held their annual Christmas competition on the 27th of December where Anglers young and old battled it out for the Loughran Cup. the day started cold and frosty but with some great fish being banked the mood bit not take long to brighten.

Matthew Duffy with his Personal Best pike – 27.06lb – which won him the Loughran Cup

1st place went to our Milltown Lake’s own junior angler Matthew Duffy with a whopper and personal best of 27.06lb. The achievement was further enhanced by the top prize of €250.

Stephen Donaghy took 2nd place with this 20lber

2nd place went to Stephen Donaghy with an excellent fish at 20.04lb and 3rd to Harry Hoyle with another beauty of 19.09lb !

Well done to everyone who took part.

Go fishing…

Milltown Lough is located just north of Castleblayney, County Monaghan. It is heavily stocked with brown trout averaging 1lb. Trout season runs from 1 March to 30 September. Pike season opens on 01 October.

Day tickets are available for €25.
