Good pike fishing reported from Lough Derg and the River Shannon.

Lough Derg :
Paul Burke and Danny Tiernan from www.irishfishingtours.com report some good fishing on the lower Derg, reporting 6 pike for a days fishing with their best fish weighing 15 lb. John Val Kelly and friend from Athenry were out with Paul and Danny and had 7 fish which included 16 lb. and 14 lb. fish.

Portumna :
The third and final leg of the Boathouse Cup was fished on Sunday 7th October but fishing was very slow. The overall result for the competition was as follows, 1st Joe Harding, Terryglass, 2nd Mark Harding, Terryglass, 3rd (shared) Dave Harris, Portumna and Tony Molloy, Rathcabin.
Coarse fishing was very slow around Portumna during the week, but some English anglers who went pike fishing for a break reported a fish for 22.4lbs. Two Belgian anglers caught 5 good pike for a day’s fishing.
Jason Molloy, Terryglass caught a cracking 22 lb, pike while trolling at the Red markers downstream of Portumna bridge and Barry Holden, Manchester also reported a 12lbs pike in the same area.
Shannon River
Ray Duthie, Banagher reports that while the coarse fishing is poor the pike fishing has been excellent with several fish over a metre mark reported from visiting anglers.
