No shortage of big pike on Lough Derg

May 17th, 2018 | by

TJ, of TJ’s angling, reports that the pike were hitting the lures hard over the weekend and his clients from Dublin and France enjoyed some good fishing.

Paul Bourke, Irish Fishing Tours, also reports good fishing at the weekend. He tells us the pike are patrolling and hunting the weedbeds and the fishing can be hectic, between father son grudge matches and PB breakers. Ona eangler, Massimo, broke his PB three times on Monday.

Yesterday Cedric Charpentier, Peche Irlande Passion, was out with Wilfried who had 2 fish over 1m for and a new PB of 114cm fishing a 4d trout 17cm in deep water. On Monday there were another 2 fish over 1m; 103cm and 105cm . Again a big trout lure did the job, trolling and  casting in deep water.

Pierre Montjarret and the guys at BlackBay Lodge also had some serious fishing in the last week with some hard strikes on the lures. Fish to over a meter and weighing as much as 11kg were boated. It wasn’t always easy but all the anglers from Sweden had a ball.
