Pike to 17lb 9oz in Go Hire Championship qualifiers

The 2018/19 GO HIRE National Pike Championships got underway on Sunday 13th May at Ballybay, County Monaghan. The GO HIRE National Pike Championships consist of 10 independent qualifying competitions and the Final. The top 6 anglers from each independent qualifier go through to fish in the Final. The top angler in the Final will become the National Pike Champion and will captain the top 10 anglers from the Final in a 2 day International Team Challenge Competition to be held in England in October 2019.

There was a good turn out for the first of the Irish heats and 234 fish were caught for 63 anglers. Results are as follows:

  • 1st Laurence Marshall 55lb 2oz (11 fish)
  • Jt 2nd Tommy Coffee 40lb 4oz (9 fish)
  • Jt 2nd Paddy Mc kee 40lb 4oz (8 fish)
  • 4th Alan Heasley 35lb 12oz (10 fish)
  • 5th Sean Markey 35lb 10oz (12 fish)
  • 6th Diarmuid Smyth 34lb 3oz (6 fish)

Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs

The Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs (IFPAC) is a body representing pike anglers in Ireland, North and South.The IFPAC was founded on 17th January 1988 at a meeting held at the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan. The membership for that year stood at fifteen clubs representing six hundred anglers, today membership of IFPAC is approaching 100 affiliated clubs representing in excess of seven thousand anglers from all walks of life.
