Most anglers choose to fish the sink and draw method with dead baits. They fished in nine feet of water and found most of the pike were staying on the bottom and burying themselves in the rushes in a bid to find shelter from the strong waves. The anglers noticed this and tried to fish there baits as tight as they could to the weed fringes. this made landing fish difficult as many Pike hooked dived straight back into the weed with the dead bait in their mouth to evade capture.

The largest Pike on the day was Pats 18lb 8oz. This fish was caught on a small roach dead bait fished tight to the bottom with a 1oz bomb weight about 50yards out into a narrow cut in the rushes. It looked like a perfect place for a pike to be hiding up, said Pat and an ideal ambush point.

The pike took the bait after only about 10minuites in the spot. The fish fought very well and jumped clear out of the water twice before being safely brought to shore, unhooked, weighed, had a quick picture and released to grow much bigger.
