Weekly update

A couple of salmon from Ballyduff Bridge last week

March 31st, 2016 | by

Reports from Ballyduff Bridge on the Munster Blackwater are that a couple of salmon were got on their beats last week. On 24 March There was a lovely sea-liced 8 pounder caught and released by The River Man, Connie Corcoran. The following day Connie had another fish in what were described as perfect conditions. This time his salmon was a lovely sea-liced 6 pounder also caught at Ballyduff Bridge. On Saturday the river was in good shape and well suited to fly fishing.

On Saturday night the river came up about 2 feet and was back in good order again on Monday. There have been no further reports of fish from the river, but conditions are good barring further rain.

Ballyduff Bridge Salmon Fishery

Ballyduff Bridge fisheries control a number of beats of the Munster Blackwater. The Ballyduff Bridge beat is almost a mile long offering a huge variety of water and is particularly suited to fly fishing. Upstream near the village of Ballyhooley (a few miles outside the town of Fermoy, Cork) we have two beats. The Ballincurrig Beat is one of the most beautiful locations along the river and has an excellent piece of fly water flowing into a deep pool. Just downstream on the opposite bank we have a short but productive beat, called Magners. This beat fishes also well in high water.
