A quiet week on the Owenea but better to come
September 13th, 2012 | by Myles Kelly
Lindsey Clarke reports:
Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th September 2012.
The Owenea ran at fairly low levels for the greater part of the week although we received a small flood on Friday which read 0.24 metres on the gauge. The gauge average for the week read 0.14 metres. The fishery was very quiet and only 7 visiting rods fished for the week. As a consequence, I only have 2 salmon recorded to date. These were both caught on Friday. Donal McMenamin recorded an 8lb salmon caught on a fly from beat 6 and Frankie Byrne accounted for a 4¾lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 5.
The forecast for the coming week is for wetter weather and hopefully this will lead to good angling conditions.
