Finally the South westerly wind arrives at Owenmore and the seatrout take

September 30th, 2014 | by

Frank Maunsell reports from Owenmore Fishery:

29/09/2014: We have not had rain for the past six weeks and the river is as low as I have ever seen it. Having said that when I checked the pools at night I see a constant trickle of good seatrout passing through. Last Saturday the wind finally decided to go south west and two of the local lads decided to take a chance with the boat on the White Lake and they ended up with 13 seatrout up to 4 1/2 lbs weight.

South westerly wind is the only wind that suits our system and if you have it blowing force 5 or 6 as much as you can be guaranteed any thing in nature you can be almost certain that you will catch fish on the lakes in this wind.

The salmon, grilse and sea trout begin to run in April. The runs continue through spring and summer into early October.
