Weekly update

Owenea very quiet as levels poor

July 6th, 2017 | by

Low water levels persisted on the river for the weekending 02 July with the highest reading on the gauge only being 0.16m on Thursday. The gauge average for the week was poor only reading 0.12 metres. The fishery was very quiet, especially given the time of year, with only 2 visiting rods fishing for the week. To date, there have been 3 salmon recorded in the register.

On Tuesday, Tommy Corr recorded a 3lb grilse caught & released from beat 9 on a spinner.

On Friday, Tommy reported a further grilse weighing 6lb caught from beat 9 on a spinner.

On Saturday, Michael McCrory accounted for an 8½lb salmon caught on a fly from beat 8.

The forecast is for some wetter weather over the coming week and hopefully this will result in some better water levels.
