September 13th, 2017 | by

Monday 28th August  to Sunday 3rd September 2017.

The first week brought dry weather for the greater part and the river ran at low water levels for most of the week except for a small fresh on Monday (0.16m) and Sunday (0.16m). The gauge average for the week was low reading 0.12 metres. The fishery was fairly quiet with only 15 visiting rods fishing for the week and to date, we have no recorded catch in the register for the week.

The second week brought heavy rains towards the end of the week with good floods on Thursday (0.30m), Friday (0.30m), Saturday (0.32m) & Sunday (0.24m). The gauge average for the week was fair reading 0.21 metres. For the first 3 days of the week the river ran at low levels. The fishery was not particularly busy with only 14 rods fishing over the week. On Thursday, John Breslin recorded a 4lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 6 and on Friday he reported 2 salmon weighing 7 & 8lb caught on a spinner from beat 6 with the smaller of these being released again. On Saturday, Michael McCrory accounted for a 4lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 2.
