Some nice sea trout fishing reported from Lough Currane as the salmon season comes to close.

25/9/12 Straight to the sea trout and fly department, Mr. Phil Stanefort, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, caught a fine 4 lb. sea trout, and staying with the sea trout, Mr. John Bojter, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, also caught 1 sea trout. On the weather front we had a fresh too strong Northerly winds with heavy showers at times. Now to the Bacon and Cabbage department, the Lobster Bar will be having their Annual end of Salmon Fishing Season party on the 30th of September, and all our welcome.
26/9/12 There was reasonable good action on the Waterville Fishery, so lets gets go to the striking zone, In the salmon department, Mr. Christian Schauer of Germany, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught his first ever 8 lb. salmon, caught on the troll, so congratulations too Christian and may it be it first of many, also in good in form was Mr. Dan Sugrue, who also caught a salmon on the troll with his ghillie Mr. Brod O’Sullivan, of Stella Maris Guesthouse Waterville, and a Guest fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestly, lost a salmon and finished their day off with a sea trout, now too the sea trout, fly department, Mr. Jang Quintus of Luxemburg, fishing in the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 9 Juniors, staying with the sea trout, Ernie and Bob also from Luxemburg, fishing with their ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 2 Juniors and finished their day off with a Sea trout of 1.5 lb., now we cut across the valley too the River Inny, Mr. Noel Clancy of Waterville, caught a fine Salmon on the fly, photo courtesy of www.ivorsfood.com Wind NE fresh too strong with showers throughout the day and cold.
27/9/12 Straight to the hired boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Stefan caught 2 fine sea trout on the drift, ranging from 2 lb. up to 3 lb., also in good form in was Mr. Chris McCarthy, who caught 3 Juniors on the drift, staying with the sea trout, Ernie and Bob from Luxemburg, fishing with their ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandhouse.com caught a few Juniors on the drift. 28/9/12 Straight to the sea trout department and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com The Luxemburg Party caught 10 sea trout ranging from Juniors up to 4 lb. and one of their boats was guided by their ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com staying with Lakelandshouse guesthouse , Mr Clive McDonald caught a sea trout of 1.5 lb. on the drift, also in good form was Mr. Robin Taccki, who caught a fine sea trout of 4 lb. on the drift. Now we cut across the Lake to the North Side, and the trolling department, for a mixture of sea trout and salmon, Mr. Nick Kennedy, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of email@example.com caught 2 sea trout ranging from Juniors up to 3 lb. which were all put back, and finished their day off with a fine salmon of 10 lb. which they kept. Wind NW light too fresh with reasonable cloud cover.
29/9/12 www.lakelandshouse.com take the headlines upstream and down downstream, so we will start in Franks hired out boat department, there were 4 Juniors caught by the Luxemburg Party on the drift, now we cut across the Lake to the North side and the trolling department, Mr. Nick Kennedy, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of firstname.lastname@example.org caught and released a 1 lb. sea trout, now we cut across back south and upstream too Copal lake, Ernie and Bob, from Luxemburg, fishing with their ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly, caught a fine Grilse of 5.5 lb. and finished their day off with 3 fine sea trout, ranging from 2 lb. up to 3.5 lb.
30/9/12 Straight to the salmon department and fish of the day, and that goes too Mr. Paul Lentelink who caught his first ever salmon on the Fly while fishing with his ghillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com now too the sea trout department Mr. Patsy Quilligan of Cork, caught a nice bag of Juniors, and other Anglers did catch a few Juniors, now we cut across the Valley too the River Inny and in the striking, were Mr. Mike Teahan, he caught a fine Salmon on the Spin, also in good form was, Mr. Noel Clancy of Waterville and His ghillie Sian Brain and of www.kbfishingireland.com with two Salmon caught on the fly, and last but not least a Guest fishing with his ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishinwithdom.com caught 2 salmon all were Grilse. There Was a great party in the Lobster this evening, and on all behalf of all the anglers I would like thank, Mrs Shelia O’Carroll and the Staff of the Lobster Bar for a great night and a good party was had by all, Mr. Brian O’Carroll presented a framed photograph of Mr. Mike Dwyer and his 15 lb. Salmon, to Mike, in memory of his Father Mr. Denis O’Carroll. The rest of the Trophies will be presented on the very last day of the Sea Trout season on the 12 of October, and going by tonight the crack should be good.
1/10/12 Today is a Sad Day for Lough Currane, because we had the sad news, that one of Waterville’s renowned fly Anglers, Mr. Christopher O’Sullivan of the UK and Waterville, past away at the tender age of 43 on Friday 28th of last month, and on behalf of all we Anglers I would like pay our condolences too Christopher’s First Cousins Neil and Tom O’Shea and all his Family and friends, well Christopher you may be gone, but you are not forgotten. To all you Salmon and sea trout Bolger’s out there, which Christopher was one, I will not be putting today’s fishing notes until tomorrow, you can say today is Christopher’s day. That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville fishery. No Spin No Fly’s just facts.
