Good Sea Angling Reported from Dundalk Bay in Co. Louth

August 3rd, 2012 | by David Byrne

It’s been a while since we had a sea angling report from Dundalk Bay and it turns out that the lads have been having some really nice fishing of late. Skipper of the charter boat James Owen, Pat Rankin, from  Dundalk reports that the fishing has been very good until the weather turned about two weeks ago. Anglers  were catching some very nice tope in the 35 to 55lb range with an occasional bigger fish. Things quietened with the change in weather and then out of the blue, an enormous tope which Pat reports was estimated to be circa 70lbs+ was reported caught in the Bay. In addition to the tope fishing some nice double figured bullhuss have also been caught. Hughie Smith had a nice double figured bullhuss recently. Mackerel fishing has generally been tough but there have been a number of good days as well. Catches in the Bay area have also included codling, pouting, pollack and flatties.

If you fancy a day out sea fishing with your friends, family or club why not give Pat a call.  Telephone: +353 42 9339695 or +353 87 9427146

Pat provides reef, tope and general inshore fishing.
