Perseverance pays off for bass anglers in Wexford

May 3rd, 2018 | by

Guide Sean Jordan of Bass fishing Wexford reports on the latest bass fishnig along the Wexford coast.

Conditions have been tough on the Wexford coast of late with winds going in all directions almost hourly making it very tough for fly anglers, I’ve met sea trout and bass, but it’s very tough…

Top fly fisher, & Guinness fanatic Doug Bomeisler, Florida, US  joined me for a few days hoping to meet his first European Bass, he was  very keen to try his own tied flies, one of which connected him with a hard fighting Mullet.

We left that area and settled into another likely spot on an evening flooding tide, fly of choice was my Spring favorite for bass a flatwing sloopy droopy in yellow, after a while a shoal of small sandeel arrived, and it wasn’t long before Doug had his first bass, a couple of quick pic’s, & it was on its way.
