Porbeagle shark reports from Galway Bay

September 13th, 2017 | by

John Fleming was on to report  more porbeagle being caught in Galway…

Porbeagle #CPRsavesfish

We have had a few porbeagles in the last couple of weeks. Steve’s group targeting beagles recently and we had 7 runs but unfortunately only managed this one around 50lbs or so.. It gave a great fight and was tagged and released unharmed.. Great to see so many small beagles about and its a great sign for seasons coming.

We then had Jimmy Given’s group out. They hooked into something special that day and the lucky angler was John Kehoe. The fight lasted an hour and three quarters. The strong male fish came to the surface three times and dived deep every time. When we finally saw the fish we knew it was a big lad. We got him aboard tagged and released quickly after a couple of pictures #CPRsavesfish. John smashed our boats record by close to 100 lbs with his porbeagle estimated at near 200lb.
