Small boat FishMagnet a tope magnet with 7 to 53lb landed
September 6th, 2012 | by Myles Kelly
Mark Heffernan, Chairman of Dundalk SAC had a day to remember on Sun 2nd Sept when he caught a 67.5 [Tope Legend lands legendry tope of 67.5lb on Carlingford Lough]. Fresh from his success he returned to the Carlingford Lough on Wednesday morning where he managed to land 3 tope weighing in at 30lb, 45lb, and 31lb respectively. The 45lb fish used the current to its best advantage and took its toll on the newly crowned king of the tope.
Mark was not alone in his endeavours, the first fish of the day, a lovely 37lb tope was taken by fellow angler “Septic”. This tope had a badly damaged mouth, but the damage was well healed and the fish seemed in good condition.

Mark had 3 tope in a row, his best this 45lb fish. You can't be too careful unhooking these toothy sharks as Mark found out...
Although Mark followed this capture with his own 3 in a row it was Septic who eventually had the best tope of the day, his PB, a fine fish of 53lb.

The best tope of the day weighed a huge 53lb
The pair then ended the day with a double hook up. Marks fish came in at 39lb and Septic, staying on his big fish run, landed a lovely tope of 49lb.
