A feast of fresh water molluscs for the brown trout at Carrigavantry
September 6th, 2012 | by Nancy Hearne
David Tantrum from Waterford City & County Trout Anglers Association reports from Carrigavantry /Knockaderry lakes:
Here we have the stomach contents of a 3lbs brown caught in Carrigavantry. These are not mini snails! They are a rare type of fresh water Bi-Valve molluscs(mussel) . Knockaderry has a similar species which need very clean water. No wonder the stocked fish gain so much weight!!
