104 anglers ventured out on Lough Lene and competed in the Chairman’s Pairs fly-fishing competitions. It was a huge success with all proceeds going towards Collinstown Parish Church. The fish gods were certainly looking down on the Lene anglers, and it bright calm conditions a huge number of trout were caught on the day. Andrew Boyd of Galway and pal Marcus Donnell of Dungannon produced the winning trout bang on 2kg. There were a huge number of prizes up for grabs and many local anglers also featured in the winning enclosure. Tom Fagan thanked all who supported and sponsored the Chairman’s Pairs competition, and also thanked his competition officers on the day Pat Brown and David O’Neill who really had their hands full at the 6pm finish.  It’s not all over just yet on Lene as far as the trout season is concerned.
