October 27th, 2011 | by Myles Kelly
Sixteen anglers entered Heat 1 of the Annamoe Winter League. The day was overcast, mild, dull and the light breeze caused a small ripple on the lake. The conditions were good for dry fly such as Daddy Longlegs but most anglers opted for lures, small nymphs and boobies on sink tips. The competition was held over four hours, with anglers changing pegs on the hour. The winner Patrick McDonnell from Dublin got off to a good start landing four of his total catch of ten on his first peg. Ten anglers landed a total of thirty six rainbows averaging 3lbs.each.
