Michael McDermott wins McCarthy Cup on Lough O’Flynn

Joe Fitzharris reports that the McCarthy Cup was held on Sunday in very blustery and tough conditions but as always some nice fish were caught. In the end Michael McDermott with a 2lb 12.2oz trout.

McCarthy Cup results

  • 1 Michael McDermott fish = 2- lb 12.2 oz
  • 2 John Gaffey fish = 2- lb 05.2 oz.
  • 3 Shane Stephens fish = 2- lb 02.4 oz.
  • 4 Gerry Murray fish = 2- lb 01.8 oz.
  • 5 Anthony Doyle fish = 2- lb 01.2 oz.
  • 6  Ronan Baggott fish = 1- lb 14.2 oz.

Lough O’Flynn is a 300 acre rich limestone lake located in Co Roscommon just north of Ballinlough village. There are good stocks of wild and stocked brown trout averaging about 1.5 lbs with fish to 3 to 4lbs sometimes caught.
