Cashel Trout Fishery report by Marlene Mc Laughlin

At last the temperatures are beginning to rise and so are the trout.

Newcomer, Mark Larkin released a real good trout which fell to the black buzzer.  Dean Flanagan and Greg English (Draperstown) released five between them which took small bloodworm nymphs and suspender buzzers.  Jim Russell and Danny Walker (Newtownabbey and Monkstown) bagged two each which took wee green olives while Eunan McAleese (Maghera) bagged two for home which were 6lb in weight and continued to release four more which all took assorted lures.  Chris Chapman and Mark Jones (Belfast) released three and two respectively using small dries and nymphs while Draperstown’s Joe Mc Guigan spent a couple of hours tempting trout using his self tied patterns.  Jonathan Selfridge (Maghera) and Melvin Martin (Limavady) rose a few and released a few using wet flies while Dungiven’s John Hasson released three beauties which took wet flies and shuttlecocks.

Congratulations to all.
