Still good Spent Gnat fishing on Lough Arrow

During the last week, trout angling on Lough Arrow was mostly confined to spent gnat fishing during late afternoons and evenings.

Finnian Dodd reported that Sean Hogan and Mark Coady made their annual trip to Lough Arrow and were well rewarded for their efforts. Fishing from Dodd’s Shore they caught fish each day with a best day of 7 fish and a best fish of over 3 lbs. All trout were returned. Similarly, Michael O Donnell and fishing partner had about a dozen fish for three days with several over 3 lbs. Michael Penters also fishing from Dodd’s had 7 trout all over 2.5 lbs. for three days fishing. Andreas Brandt from Switzerland boated two fish about 1.5 lbs. each. Others to have fish over the past week fishing from Dodd’s included Michael Martin from Belfast, Will Taylor from Dungannon and local anglers Keith Trotter and Paul Casey. Fishing out of Hargadon’s Boat Hire (+353 (0)85 1740956) , Dublin angler, Eddie Rowe, had 6 trout heaviest approx. 2 lbs., while Ciarán O’Donnell  from Derry had  4 fish heaviest 3 lbs.
