Last Angling Report – 30th September
Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.
As of Friday 30th September water at 2.5 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s. River running dirty from coloured water from the Gweestin and streams above Beaufort Bridge rendering the river only fit for worming from midday to about 5 pm. When the river cleared later on the fishing was still disappointing, as it was all the week apart from Monday when a few fish were caught, among them sealiced fish.
The last two weeks of the season were disappointing considering the good fishing we had for the first two weeks of September and the lovely water we had up to closing day. From Tuesday on there were only one or two fish a day caught from perfect water. John Scanlan had a lovely fish of 7 lb. on the fly, on Thursday the only fish for the day despite a very big angling effort.
Beat 3:
Fishing on Beat 3 for all of September was disappointing on the whole with meeting a fish being the exception rather than the rule as it should have been with the water level at what would be considered ideal for the Beat.
