The Polish Angling Club ‘Fishmaniak’ are organising another fishing competition at White Island on the Lough Muckno on 14th-15th April 2012. The overnight event will start Saturday 14th at 6 pm and finish Sunday 15th around 11 pm. The event will be which is supported by Inland Fisheries Ireland will be run in accordance with best angling and bio-security practice and will incorporate the introduction of new bio-security measures to help in the battle against the spread of non native invasive species. These non native invasive species pose a huge threat to our fisheries habitats and biodiversity.
The Irish Angling Development Alliance (IADA) will oversee the net and footwear disinfection dip for the Fishmaniak Angling Club Competition to be held on White Island 14th and 15th April 2012.
A dip tank will be provided complete with Virkon Aquatic for that purpose and we at IADA commend the Fishmaniak club for adhering to best Bio security practice.
IADA also laud their approach to fish handling and care by their 5 hour weigh, record and release policy during this 17 hour match.
Pawel Ladniak of the Fishmaniak Angling Club stated the he and his members were very happy to adopt these new bio-security measures and was looking forward to another successful competition on Lough Muckno.
