River Shannon at Carrick-on-Shannon by Fergus Lynch

Carrick-on-Shannon Angling Festival

Fifty anglers from England, Northern Ireland, Holland and Germany took part in this five day event fished on Kiltybardon Lake, Lough Scur, the Mudflats on the Shannon and Cloonahee Lake.

Fishing was very good with very steady weights of fish coming off all venues.  Cloonahee Lake, which had not been used for many years for the Festival, fished very well and all anglers were very happy with the venues and the fishing overall.

It was great to see such a closely contested competition.   Two Dutch anglers and Tony Kersley were head to head on level points on day five, with only 3.120 kg. the difference between 1st and 3rd place.

John Roubos of Holland took first place with 33.130 kg.  Second  was Tony Kersley with 32.080 kg. and third was T Van Osch of Holland on 30.010 kg.

Bio Security was in place and thanks to anglers and IFI staff for ensuring all nets and boats were dipped.

All in all a very good competition.
