BLUSTERY conditions and heavy surf made for a bitterly cold but challenging day for the 85 anglers who came from across Ireland to take part in the Courtown Sea Anglers RNLI fundraiser on Sunday.

The shore angling competition was held on Kilgorman beach near Castletown, and the long line of anglers down the coastline made for an impressive sight. The winner on the day, with 24 fish, was James Ryan from New Ross, while Joe Byrne from Courtown was second. Third was John Watchorn from Bannow Bay.
