LAUNE SALMON AND TROUT ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION WATERS AND BEAT 3
Angling Report 23rd April
As of Sunday evening 22nd April now up to 2 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s and running coloured from the Gweestin. This colour should clear by Monday and provided we don’t get any more rain the Laune should be very fishable for the week by all methods.
No news of fish caught on Laune Anglers waters but hearing of a good few fish moving up stream. The coming week with the lovely water should bring news of fish being caught in our waters and very soon they will start holding up in the pools.
Beat 3: Fished Beat 3 down as far as Poll Cloch on Friday, no sea trout or salmon but hooked three nice brown trout spinning and on salmon fly. It was noticeable that there was a great rise of trout to whatever insect was being blown off the bushes and trees along the river bank. Brown Trout fishing is an under used resource on Laune Anglers waters and on Beat 3. Judging by the rise of nice trout good sport is to be had with trout rod and wet or dry fly or nymphs. Angling Report 30th April
Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.
As of Sunday 29th April water now up to 2 feet 6 inches on the gauge at Johnston’s and running with just a hint of colour. Perfect water for all methods and should remain so for the week.
There were two fish reported for the week and one of them said to be 20 lb. no details as to who the lucky angler was.
Good sport is to be had if you target Brown Trout I fished on Tuesday and caught a few up to 8 inches. If you are fishing small flies then you will hook parr and smolts at this time of year so be very careful returning these indeed it would be better to use barb – less – hooks.
Beat 3: Water level on Beat 3 is perfect at the moment and I would be expecting to hear of seatrout or salmon from the Beat soon. For further information look up: www.launesalmonanglers.com Email: [email protected]
