Lindsey Clarke reports on Lough Melvin:

30th July to Aug 5th: There seems to have been little angling effort on the Lough this week. I have no reports of any salmon caught and the trout fishing was difficult for those that did fish.

Aug 6th to Aug 12th: Lough Melvin was quiet during the first half of the week but the fishing really picked up over the weekend and Sunday was an excellent day with good sonaghan being caught. Tom Burn reported a 5½lb trout caught on a Daddy long-legs fly. The Garrison Anglers hosted the Gerry Gallagher Memorial Cup on Sunday. This is a singles competition and was fished by 52 anglers. It was a good day with anglers reporting good numbers of sonaghan caught. The competition was won by Rab Clements from Portadown with 6 fish caught. In second place was James Doherty from Garrison also with 6 fish and in third place was James Cox from Castlecaldwell also recording 6 fish.

Salmon fishing was quiet and it seems that no boats ventured out after the same.
