Angling Guide and journalist Mick Flanagan reports on trout fishing on Lough Ennell and Whitelake
Lough Ennell
Lough Ennell Anglers hosted the Jimmy Nea Cup last Friday night, and some super fish were presented at the 11pm finish in Whitebridge Bay. A total of Ten trout were weighed in which is very good for Ennell, and we got a fishing lesson from local teacher Noel Gilhooley who rattled the scales with a fine fish of 3.218lbs.In second place was Dublin Angler Martin McGorian with 3.066lbs, and 3rd Mick Devanney with 2.416lbs.
Whitelake young anglers in Action
Last week the Fore National School Parents Association hosted a night for young Anglers on the Whitelake. It was a great night, and the young anglers really enjoyed their fishing. Plus some beautiful prizes were up for grabs. Oisin McCabe had a lovely trout weighing 1lbs 11oz to take Top Rod, with Mark Butler a close 2nd with 1lbs 9oz, and 3rd Joe Curran 1lbs 7oz. Well done to all the winners, and especially those who organized and sponsored the night. Special thanks from the Angling Focus team to former Ginnell Terrace resident and good friend Johnny Keating for reports and photographs.
