The Laune Anglers report that the sea trout run has started on the Laune…

Sean O’Sullivan got the sea trout fishing started last week with a nice trout at Johnston’s. On Tuesday last Garry Fernane from Tralee hooked 4 trout while ” test driving” a 13 foot Redington fly rod.  The two trout he landed were about 1.5 lbs and he said that he lost the best one a fish of up to 3lbs.  He also caught two brown trout up to 12 inches.  The Fly a Silver Bodied Stoat’s Tail.  Garry was fishing Charlie Johnston’s, Tom Johnston’s  and Heffernan’s.

​This is a good indicator of an early start to the sea trout run.  The best sea trout fishing on the Laune in 2012 was during April especially in the last two weeks. Sea trout in 2012 ran to 3lbs and over, lets hope its the same in 2013.
