Lindsey Clarke reports from the RIVER DROWES – Tuesday 11th to Sunday 15th February 2013.

The river continued to run at fairly high levels reading around 8 on the gauge for much of the week. There was a lift in temperature overall for the week with Friday being the warmest day with 12°C recorded at one point. There were a few rods fishing over the week and to date, there have been 3 good salmon recorded. On Friday, Davy Elliott recorded a 9lb salmon caught on a Willie Gunn tube fly from the Old Sea Pool. On Saturday, Owen McManus from Ballyshannon logged a 10lb salmon caught on a Rapala from the Money Hole and on Sunday, Marty O’Hara reported a lovely 17½lb salmon caught on Yellow Belly Devon Minnow from Briney’s. The forecast for the week is for mainly dry weather but colder and more wintery weather is forecast for the second half of the week. The Drowes will have good water levels all week however and with the run of spring salmon starting to pick up, prospects are looking good for the coming week on the Drowes 🙂
