With salmon numbers in alarming decline anglers in Northern Ireland are being limited to keeping one fish for the entire 2013 season, except on Lough Melvin.
The Fermanagh lake, which opens for fishing on February 1, has always been a special case.
It is home to unique strains of sonaghan and gilaroo, arctic char and ferox trout and has the only recognised spring salmon run in Northern Ireland.
Straddling the Border with the Republic of Ireland, it has an international frontier running through it and is subject to the laws and regulations of two different jurisdictions…..
