There were better water levels in the river this week. We received a small flood on Tuesday (0.26 metres) another on Thursday (0.27 metres) and a good flood on Saturday (0.40 metres). The gauge average for the week was healthier reading 0.25 metres. The fishery was busier with 64 visiting rods in attendance. There were also a good number of salmon recorded with some 25 salmon caught.

Given here are some of the catches taken from the catch register. On Monday, Charlie Campbell recorded a 7lb salmon caught on a spinner and father Sean Campbell logged a 3lb grilse caught on worm from beat 8. Tommy Corr registered a 4lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 9 and Billy Blair accounted for a 3lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 8. On Tuesday, Malachy Gallagher recorded a 3½lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 9. Richard Archer logged a 6½lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 7. Shane Martin registered a 7lb salmon caught on a fly from beat 8 and Anne McMenamin accounted for a 5lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 4. On Wednesday, John Lennon reported a 4lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 5. On Thursday, visiting French Angler Emanuel Simonney recorded his first ever salmon. This was a 3½lb grilse caught on a fly from beat 5. Malachy Gallagher logged a 5½lb grilse caught on a spinner from beat 9. John Breslin registered an 11½lb salmon caught on a spinner from beat 5 and Liam Ward had a good day reported 3 grilse weighing 4, 6 & 7lb caught on fly & spinner from beats 3, 4 & 5. On Friday, Kevin O’Neill recorded a 9lb salmon caught on a fly from beat 6. On Sunday, John Breslin accounted for two grilse weighing 5 & 5½lb caught on a spinner from beat 5.

There is rain forecast for the week but amounts are uncertain and hopefully there will be enough to give us a couple of good floods.
