Thursday last was a throwback to the good old days of coarse angling in Fermoy as famed Barnane hummed with fishing related activity. Every ‘beat’ was taken up and critically the fish were biting. On closer inspection it was evident that side by side with seasoned anglers were novices trying their hand for the first time.
According to Chris ‘Kipper’ O’Donovan, the objective was to broaden the appeal of angling to those who might otherwise not get a chance to experience the delights of this ancient pursuit. A particularly warm welcome was extended to wheelchair users and those with special needs. Chris, who operates a wheelchair accessible boat on the Blackwater, was delighted with how things went…..
