Peter Cunningham from the Boyne Angling Centre in Drogheda reports that a great days pike fishing was had by all on Sunday 13th January at the boyne angling centre’s competition. The weather was kind to the 41 anglers who travelled from Meath, Louth, Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Longford and Westmeath to participate in the event on a lake in the Cavan area. Anglers weighed in over 82 fish and there were lots of doubles and a number of bags weighing twenty five pounds plus. Other fish were also taken on the day but not recorded in the final tally. The winning bag weighed in at 36.5lbs for 4 fish and all fish were handled carefully and returned safely to the water. Fish were taken on dead baits legered, float fished and fished sink and draw. Lures and spinners also acounted for a number of fish. Peter would like to thank the all of the stewards for their help on the day.
