Ian Powell of the Blackwater Lodge & Salmon Fishery is hopeful that the broken weather of the last couple of days might continue and deliver enough fresh water to the Blackwater catchment to see the fishing improve.
Last week was not a bad week given the conditions and forty-six fish to 13lb. were for the week to last Saturday. However there were no fish caught over the weekend and Ian tells us that as of Monday 29/09 there are no fresh fish moving on the lower river and even the resident fish are being very dour.
“Prospects are likely to remain challenging until we get a rise in water which look well possible for the coming weekend.”
If things take a turn for the better there is good availability of both B&B accommodation and fishing on the Blackwater Lodge beats up to the close on Sunday, October 12th.
