Charter skipper Mark Gannon reports from Courtmacsherry on deep sea fishing for his clients fishing on his two charter boats. The fishing the last while it has been good off Courtmacsherry with Conger, Ling, Pollack and Coalfish being the most prevalent .

The pollack fishing in the bay has been very good and the wrecks have produced some good Ling, the best fish a specimen for Dan Opree of 28 lb. last Friday.

Anchoring on the reefs, the conger fishing has been good with 60 eels caught one day last week the best fish aprox 35 lb. Specimen Cod also landed for Stephen Turner of 20 lb. which is a good fish for the inshore grounds.

Several good Thornbacks also landed fishing the shallow waters near the Horse rock with some good dabs as well.

The Estuary fishing producing some good flounder and with the Bass fishery reopening yesterday I only have reports of a few small fish landed. This week Courtmacsherry angling will be welcoming Jim O’Donnell as skipper of the Lady Patricia, Jim is well known in Angling circles for his journalistic qualities for various angling publications ,running his own charter business in England and has guided worldwide, especially for Tarpon in Florida. Jim plans along with skippering to do some specialist bass guiding using lures. I am sure he’s going to enjoy himself this summer and that you’ll be reading about his angling in this news section.
