Anglers fishing with Courtmacsherry Angling have been getting amongst some good blue sharks this week. Just yesterday they had 6 big blues to over 2m on the Lady Patricia, while those on the Lady Louise had good conger to 15kg and plenty of pollack. Skate, good sized cod, bass and more have been coming to the boat in recent days.
Heading west towards Union Hall, the two boats in the Irish Deep Sea Charter fleet, Boy Scott and Rod’n’Reel have had great cod and pollack fishing over the last few days despite the huge tides. They tell us that now that the weather has settled for a little while they expect this ground fishing to continue as the tides drop back.
Further near Castletownsend, Tom Collins on Loch an Iasc showed that he can produce the goods under pressure when he got blue shark for his crew while fishing for a Polish TV show about angling in Ireland. At the Baltimore Angling Festival, Tom’s boat took had the biggest fish landed over the 4 days. These two pictures are of the same fish and show how fish can look much bigger or smaller depending on the angle etc of the photo.
