A visit to Castle Lake in Bailieboro Co Cavan earlier this week shows that there is some nice fishing for roach and hybrids to be had on this scenic water. The water was very coloured but there were lots of fish about. Following a few torrential downpours in the evening the conditions improved and there were lots of bites. As the light breeze dropped away the lake was flat calm and fish were topping all over the lake during the last hour of daylight. Fishing into about 7ft of water bites were to be had every cast. Simple maggot hook baits produced bites (lots missed) and fish.
