Pawel Orlow from the Fishmaniak club has sent in a report from their pike competition which was held Lough Egish on Sunday last 15th February. This was the lads first pike match of the new season. The weather was typical for this time of a year, a lovely morning, with a mix of clouds and sun and then rainy in the afternoon. Pawel says that the fishing was tough and unfortunately on this occasion the fish didn’t cooperate too well with them. There was the usual great turnout for the competition with 20 contestants who managed to catch just 4  pike on the day. However, one of our members Grzegorz Golebiowski caught a lovely 102cm pike which weighed in at 19lbs.

As usual, the lads conducted a litter pick along the shoreline after the event. Then it was off to the Lake View Pub for the obligatory barbecue and prize-giving.

The Results of the Competition are as follows:

1st place – Grzegorz Golebiowski – 1 pike 102cm/19lb

2nd place – Henryk Walkowiak – 1 pike 80cm/8,7lb

3rd place – Tomasz Jancewicz – 1 pike 76cm/8lb

4th place– Maciej Grezlikowski – 1 pike 60cm/1,2lb.
