Ian Powell of the Blackwater Lodge reports on two springers caught on the Munster Blackwater:

After a week or so of high dirty water, the river came down briefly on Sunday, March 1st. to just below a metre.
There were just 5 rods out that day & two fish were caught. Since then the river has risen again.
A very fresh 7 lb. (which had been in a few days & had no sea-lice) for David Jackson from Kents, & a 5.3lb. for Lawrence Fitzpatrick from Lower Kilmurry (with short-tailed sea-lice which had only been in the river 24 hrs). Recent high water has brought fish in!

David Jackson (Cork)
David Jackson (Cork) – 7lb. Very fresh. Caught on spinner at the tail of Gorman’s Pool on Kents on the lower river
Lawrence Fitzpatrick - 5.3lb. sea-liced. taken on spinner on the Island Stream on Lower Kilmurry on the lower river.
Lawrence Fitzpatrick – 5.3lb. sea-liced. taken on spinner on the Island Stream on Lower Kilmurry on the lower river.

Prospects.

Once this latest rise fines off it’s looking excellent right through to the weekend & probably well into next week. There are reports of fresh fish seen and met right up as far as 15 miles upstream of Mallow, so it looks as if there is a good head of spring fish in the system.
