Donagh Molloy of shannonestuary.blogspot.ie had his first session of the year last week. Using left over sandeels and squid from last season he had some nice thornback rays and a couple of dogfish.
Donagh fished 3 hours of the early flood using squid wraps. Everything went quiet towards the end of the session and even the crabs stopped mauling the baits. Unable to fish into the dark due to commitments, Donagh held on until sunset when he put out as big a bait as he could manage. The gambit paid off and he was rewarded with this fine ray.
