Fishing was very, very tough on Day 1 of the two day Lough Sillan May Day Open on beautiful Lough Sillan on May 1. Only a few fish showed despite conditions that appeared to be near perfect. Its possible the fish are interested in more important things than feeding (!). The 16 anglers competing may have been so many gooseberries.
Results at the end of day 1 were fairly open and it was all to play for on Day 2.
- 1st Andy Chapman 2-470kgs
- 2nd Steven Whyte 1-420kgs
- 3rd Finnian Feeney 1-110kgs

Day 2 saw tough conditions once again on a very stormy, cold day with battering hail/rain and gale force winds to contend with. Fishing got underway at 11am – 4pm. Andy Chapman held his lead from day one and took first place with a respectable 4.460kg given the conditions.
