Angling guide and instructor Eamonn Conway has been in contact with some fishing news from the Castletown River in the north east. He reports “after the recent rain, my local river has gone up nicely and the fishing has taken a turn for the better. The rise in water means that the sea trout are running throughout the Castletown river system. Fishing with small streamers in the coloured water is working well for them at the moment and during the day nymphs are working well in the runs. The brown trout fishing has also picked up on this river with some nice trout feeding actively and confidently in the fresh water. The fly-fishing at night for sea trout will return to normal when the water clarity goes back to normal.
